Whois Privacy Protection, at times also called Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the authentic contact details of domain registrants on WHOIS web sites. Without such protection, the personal name, address and email account of any domain registrant will be freely accessible. Providing false information during the domain registration procedure or altering the real information afterwards will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing their domain name ownership rights. The policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), demand that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain registrars as a response to the arising concerns about potential identity theft. If the service is enabled, the domain name registrar’s contact details will be shown instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

You can easily enable Whois Privacy Protection for any domain that you have registered with our company in case you have a shared hosting account with us. This can be achieved through the very same Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you manage the web hosting account, so you will not have to use different tools. In the same section where all your registered domain names will be listed, there will be an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon for each and every domain whose extension supports the service. The status of that icon will quickly show you whether the Whois Privacy Protection service is activated for a specific domain name or not and by clicking that icon you can activate the service if you haven’t done so during the account activation procedure. Plus, you’ll also be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any domain using the exact same icon and the update will take effect immediately.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can add our Whois Privacy Protection service without any difficulty. This takes just a couple of clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you administer everything associated with your account. This is where you can see all your registered domain names and for each one of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” sign, using which you can activate, renew or remove the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code TLD extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this beforehand, so you will not end up purchasing a service that we can’t provide.
