Every single registered domain name has at least 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your Internet domain to the servers of a certain hosting provider. That way, you've got both your site and your emails handled by the very same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are lots of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the site for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you enter a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be forwarded to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means that you could have your site and your e-mails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared plan from us, you will be able to see, set up and change any A or MX record for your domains. So long as a particular Internet domain has our Name Servers, you will be able to modify certain records using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or emails directed to another service provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool will permit you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address in any way. If you decide to use the email services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do that with only a few clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan through our company, you'll be able to see and update the A and MX records for any of the domains or subdomains you host inside the account. The Hepsia Control Panel, which you'll get to manage the account, offers an state-of-the-art, albeit easy-to-use tool in which all hosts are going to be listed in alphabetical order and you will be able to edit their records with no more than several mouse clicks. If you have to create a new record, it's going to be equally simple - select the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you're going to be ready. You will also be able to set different priority for the MX records that you create in case that you decide to use a third-party email provider and they ask you to set up additional records apart from the 2 standard ones. If you ever encounter any problems, you will find a detailed Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to setup or modify any record.
