SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is used to confirm if an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the counterfeiting of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain name makes a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever some email message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies if it comes from an official server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet if it doesn't originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it look as if you're distributing spam messages. This technique is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a couple of mouse-clicks. The function is available in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to use it is to choose one of your domain names from a drop-down list and type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be authorized to send messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only when it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution will provide you with the highest standard of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your emails for the domain name are handled in another place. In either case, our SPF protection service will keep your emails secure from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection feature is provided with all semi-dedicated plans, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you're able to activate the service easily for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a rather intuitive interface, therefore you do not have to be tech-savvy in order to protected your emails. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be active for the domain that you've chosen. As a further option, we also allow you to limit the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes further by allowing emails to be sent only when the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name need to be managed on our end and not by a different company. In this way you will get even better control and there will not be any chance for anyone to forge your e-mail addresses for malicious intentions.
